The biggest problem facing the Australian School System at this time is the ideology of rote learning. With each student expected to learn a set curriculum of facts, ideas, and theses, backed up by rigorous homework assignments to 'cement' their learning, the system has little to no flexibility.
The current rote system loads students with unrealistic amounts of homework and often undermines their faith in their own abilities because they are not able to retain the information they have been made to remember.
Large amounts of homework cause unnecessary stress for students. Unrealistic homework loads mean that students don’t have the vital decompression time they need to pursue hobbies or sports, listen to music, write, snooze; wind down from the academic demands of school. No student should be expected to be academically performing every moment they're awake - it’s detrimental to their physical and mental well being.
This means that there are no worksheets or homework for students to complete. Instead we talk through the material and concepts in our sessions because, when a student can explain the concept in their own words, then they’ve successfully understood the material.
And when a student understands, rather than simply recalls, their retention rates go through the roof!
A student trusting in their own ability - in their brain's ability to understand and adapt - is the underpinning concept behind Beyond The Box Tutoring.
Our system allows students to interact, understand, and become passionate about their subjects and material.
Some students may not work well in a classroom setting, but that doesn’t mean they are unable or unwilling to learn - merely that we should adjust to suit their needs.
Send a booking enquiry through our online booking page, with the student's
details and preferred session times.
We will
then be in contact via email to organise a more detailed assessment of the
student's wishes and requirements before pairing them with the session that
best fits their situation. An initial Introductory session will be arranged to allow students to begin to connect with the discussion program.
We offer sessions from 8am to 6pm on Weekdays, and 9am to 5pm on Saturdays.
After
school and Saturday sessions are our most popular, so it may not always be
possible to book your preferred time, but we will work with you to find a
suitable availability.
After the initial, introductory session – which we are pleased to offer at half price to
welcome you to our program – you can then go ahead and book your following
sessions.
Sessions
can be purchased in a discounted term bundle, billed monthly for a small discount, or billed weekly.
